Journey with the Holy Bible. Day 2

Verse for reflection: St Mathew 1:1

We will now ponder over the second question- why did the story of salvation have our Lord become human? Wouldn’t it have been easier if He simply spoke from heavens or came in his glorious godly form?

The holy father-the defender of Orthodoxy, St Athanasius of Alexandria answers this in his work-‘On the Incarnation’.

Death entered the creation through the Transgression-the disobedience of Adam and Eve and there was no escape. It was unthinkable that God should go back on His word that man having transgressed should not die. It was also unworthy of His goodness that creatures made by Him should perish forever through the deceit of the devil. If an earthly king who has founded a city will take great care in saving the city and its inhabitants from invaders and robbers, how much more will the Loving Lord save His creation from entraps of the devil.

Your brother in Christ.
